Bedroom design trends come and go, and as the year begins to wrap up, it’s time to look at what styles are on their way out as we approach 2026.
Here, three professional interior designers speak to six bedroom looks that they’re already seeing fading as we enter late 2025 and anticipate will be fully out in the new year. Overall, it sounds like we can expect to see more color and warmth in sleep spaces, as well as a more soothing setup as a whole, they explain.
Architecturally Complex Beds

Ornate beds are certainly eye-catching, but will they have longevity? Susan Hill, the founder of Susan Hill Interior Design, believes that no, this style won’t live on into 2026.
“These really weren’t good when they were on trend, and they date a room very quickly,” she says.
Instead, stick with beds that are more low profile and simple—you’ll appreciate this design decision for years to come, as they’re extremely versatile in style and will complement a wide range of aesthetics and room schemes.

Maximalist Bedding
Rebecca Amir, the founder of Rebecca Amir Design, predicts that we will be seeing less complex bedding setups in 2026.
“I will always love a layered bed, but recently I think there has been a trend towards bedding schemes that are simpler and less fussy,” she says.
This means fewer decorative pillows and shams on display, she explains, noting that the new go-to look is to place a textured coverlet so that it drapes over the entire bed. The main takeaway here?
“It looks sophisticated without looking like it took a lot of work,” Amir says.
Super Plain-Colored Bedrooms

While a simple look is in with regard to bedding, do not confuse this with a lack of color present in sleep spaces. Marlaina Teich, the founder of Marlaina Teich Designs, expects to see fewer and fewer all-beige and cool white bedrooms in the new year.
“These palettes may look clean, but they often feel flat and uninviting in a room that should feel restful,” she says.
Instead, Teich explains how we can expect to see touches of natural wood, linen, and woven details, and other warm elements making their way into the bedroom.
Hill expresses similar views, citing monochromatic gray and white bedding as one stylistic choice that she doesn’t believe will stick around into the next year.
“There’s no interest when there is no layering of pattern, texture, and color,” she says.
There is such a thing as a sleep space being too visually simple.

Soon, we’ll have officially moved past the days of bedrooms serving as places to both work and sleep, which has been a longtime carryover from the pandemic and work from home arrangements, Amir states.
“Bedrooms are starting to return to becoming more sacred relaxation spaces,” she says. “It’s time to move the desk that you bought in 2020!”
Matching Furniture Sets
If there was ever a time to officially retire matching furniture sets in the bedroom, it’s now, pros note, explaining that they’re more than tired of this trend. Hill explains how mixing and matching furniture pieces helps to create a collected aesthetic.
Teich feels similarly. “Buying every piece in the same finish creates a space that feels predictable rather than personal,” she says.
Instead, it’s better to aim to weave in a mixture of new and vintage finds, she notes.
Ultra Trendy Touches
Last but not least, Teich does not anticipate the bedrooms of 2026 being full of all kinds of examples of design trends, citing bouclé, farmhouse accents, and heavy floral-on-floral as a few that are “out” for next year.
“They overwhelm rather than soothe in a bedroom setting,” she says.
There’s nothing wrong with keeping your space nice and classic rather than viewing it as a lab in which to experiment with every single latest and greatest look.
