H&M’s New Fall Decor Aces the ’70s Interior Design Trend of 2025

If you spend any time at all on TikTok or Instagram, chances are you’re well-acquainted with the design aesthetic that’s all the rage right now: one that takes a page from the 1970s and floods interiors with elements like checkered wallpapers, endless variations of the color brown, texture-heavy upholstery, low-to-the-ground furniture, and curvilinear shapes (no right angles, please and thank you!). Perhaps it’s nostalgia that’s at play here, but people are also increasingly gravitating towards this trend because of how warm and relaxed it feels. Garish overhead lighting is swapped for artfully placed sconces and table lamps; plastic finishes are replaced by more organic wooden ones; and, color-wise, everything looks as if it was taken straight from Fendi‘s fall 2025 runway, in terms of the wide range of opulent, cocoa-adjacent tones spotlighted.
If all of this sounds appealing to you, we have some good news. Thanks to H&M’s new fall collection, which launched today, you can refresh your living space in a retro-chic way: by channeling the film “American Hustle.” The best part? Aside from a $399 checked rug on offer, practically everything is under $60, meaning you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for quality home selections that fit what you’re seeing on your FYP.

Curvy taper candles and fringe-bedecked couch cushions are just some of the things you can now find in H&M’s home section — standing at the ready for pairing with all your ’70s-inspired, low-slung coffee tables, organically shaped seating, and wooden surfaces.

Interested in bringing a hint of metallic into your living room, similar to how all the It-girls are donning silver sneakers as part of the latest footwear obsession? Look no further than H&M’s Metal Table Lamp, with a mushroom shape and gleaming surface that will look absolutely stunning next to jewel-toned decor touches. Feel like you want to pay homage to Pantone’s Color of the Year (a creamy, luxurious Mocha Mousse) without completely revamping your bedroom arrangement? Go for the Extra-Small Glass Vase, whose orb-like beauty and soft brown hue will be worthy of your next flower purchase and become the focal point of your room. Can’t seem to find a blanket that keeps you warm while adding textural interest to your sleeping sanctuary? Your search is officially over with the Patterned Wool-Blend Throw, which comes in four different shades — from dusty brown to the zebra print that was heavily featured in Duran Lantink‘s fall collection this year in the form of pants, outerwear, and slouchy boots, proving this pattern’s autumnal appeal in both the home decor and fashion realms.

Amidst H&M’s newest home decor selections for fall, you’ll find a range of curvilinear vases in brown and amber shades for housing branches and bouquets or acting as accent pieces all on their own.

All of these H&M home accessories make it easy to ace the throwback interior design styles reigning supreme today, without having to carve out a sunken conversation pit in your den or deck out all your kitchen walls in wood panelling. Instead, the bowls, trays, pillows, and candlesticks available to shop at H&M now are a low-lift way to rejuvenate your home ahead of fall, the same way you might upgrade your jeans collection, buy a new set of camisoles ideal for layering, or finally say “yes” to a quality barn jacket. And with the #1970saesthetic TikTok hashtag having over 17,000 posts to its name, with comments on retro decor inspiration videos ranging from “Give it to me, all of it” to “Thank God, I’m so over grey minimalism,” you can be sure that the fresh purchases will pay dividends when it comes to making your house stylish and trend-aligned.
According to the 2025 trend report from 1stDibs, the leading online marketplace for everything from high-end furniture to fine art and jewelry, “warm chocolate brown stakes its claim as designers’ top choice for the most popular color of 2025.” It seems like H&M understood the assignment, with its brown Duvet Cover Set that has a hint of rusty orange; as well as the Velvet Cushion Cover With Fringe, which will wrap your favorite pillows in a feather-soft embrace, and the Small Pillar Candle of the same hue (whose three-dimensional shapes are so pleasing on the eyes, you might not even want to burn it). Also of note is the fact that, per 1stDibs, “when asked which furniture, lighting, and decor trends will become popular in 2025, the highest percentage of designers chose curvy and irregular shapes.” This further makes the case for new H&M home finds like the Bubbly Stoneware Bowl, whose bulbous nature will play off the linearity of your bookshelves and end tables exceptionally well.
All that’s left to do is clear up space in your humble abode and click “add to cart” on the brand’s fall 2025 collection with reckless abandon. In that way, you’ll be co-signing the very antithesis to grey minimalism: a rich, homey, ’70s-coded interior style that will make coming home after work an absolute joy.
