Menomonee Falls has some impressive homes but unless you know the owner, it’s hard to get a peek inside. The 79th annual Parade of Homes is a good opportunity to check out some of the newest homes and neighborhoods on the market.
Visitors will have a chance to see “some of the finest home designs, newest home trends, and cutting-edge features,” according to show organizer Metro Builders Association of Greater Milwaukee.
Here are some additional details about this year’s Parade of Homes, which concludes on Labor Day.
How many homes can people see?
There are 12 homes constructed by 12 local builders at two sites — Bella Vista Estates and QuietWood — in Menomonee Falls. This is the fourth year in a row that the event has taken place in Menomonee Falls.
What are some interesting features included with some of these homes?
Some homes have golf simulators, saunas, theater rooms, and cold plunges.
Are there any interesting designs?
There are many exposed beams, unique wallpaper, intricate tile, and more. Arches are apparently making a comeback; you’ll see them everywhere, even in some bathrooms.
There are “Taj Mahal” quartzite countertops that some might have seen on Instagram, and they are on display at a few homes. Many have screened porches and deck spaces for parties.
“Moody” bedroom colors and “warm tones” are also featured.
‘Messy kitchens,’ what’s that about?
Many of the model homes included in the parade have “messy kitchens.” A messy kitchen is a modern version of the butler’s pantry. It’s a prep area nook next to the kitchen, in addition to the regular pantry used for storage.
There’s a ‘people’s choice’ award. What’s the best way to vote for that?
Best way to participate is come to the parade. You can only vote in person. Participants are entered into a drawing to win a generator by Generac.
Is there food at the Parade of Homes?
Yes. There will be food trucks onsite.
This there parking?
There is complimentary onsite parking at both sites as the primary parking this year. However, if there is inclement weather there can be safety concerns in the grass parking areas and secondary parking locations may be necessary. The MBA’s Parade of Homes Facebook page will have last-minute information and event staff can help with parking.
The annual event’s final weekend will see homes open Aug. 28 and 29 4-8 p.m. Hours for Aug. 30, 31 and Labor day are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $18 for general admission and $8 for children 3-16 and seniors 65 or older.
