Looking toward the future ― specifically the next 25 years ― the City of Nampa is working to update its planning guide.
On July 14, the city announced the launch of its Comprehensive Plan update initiative, entitled “Nampa 2050: Planning Our Future Together,” which will guide decision-making and investments for Nampa in the next quarter of a century.
According to a release, the plan will shape how the city “grows, develops and preserves what matters most,” stating that it will reflect the values and priorities of Nampa.
The plan will cover land use, housing, transportation, parks and other areas, while being used as a “roadmap” for how city leaders, developers and others within the community grow.
“This initiative will engage the community through extensive public outreach efforts to gather valuable input from citizens on the future direction of our city,” a statement read. “We invite the community members of all ages to join us in this process ― your voice will help chart the course for Nampa‘s next chapter.”
To that end, Nampa residents can visit cityofnampa.us/2050 to provide their input to the Comprehensive Plan update and to learn more about the update and process. It also lists upcoming events dedicated to the update. An online survey found at the site will be open until sometime this fall. It will help city leaders get a better understanding of what community members are looking for in Nampa’s future.
“We believe community involvement is crucial to the success of this plan, and we are committed to creating a comprehensive vision for Nampa’s future that reflects the needs and desires of its residents,” said Rodney Ashby, director of Nampa’s Planning and Zoning department.
